Best Company"" Dyn Named Top Democratic Workplace

Published Monday Apr 16, 2012

Dyn (formerly Dynamic Network Services, Inc.) has been named to the WorldBlu List of Most Democratic Workplaces 2012. In winning this honor, they join 47 other companies from across the world like HCL Technologies, New Belgium Brewery and Zappos.com, a client of Dyn's.

Eligibility for this award is based entirely on employee feedback. This made the honor that much sweeter since it reinforced to management that staff appreciates the practices they are instituting.

We know that people here believe in what they themselves create, said Gray Chynoweth, COO of Dyn. The more people feel empowered and engaged by the projects they're working on and the company they're working for, the more likely they're going to work harder, faster and stronger.

The company was highlighted as a prime example of organizational democracy and its influence on the bottom line. Amongst other accomplishments, Dyn was recognized for its use of an internal version of Pinterest in which employees could contribute ideas before moving into a new 25,000-square-foot corporate headquarters in Manchester. Many of these ideas were then implemented into the design of the office space.

We understood the old adage that you can't please everyone, but we did want to try to make as many people happy as possible, Chynoweth said.

This is the sixth year the award has been given and it is Dyn's inaugural appearance on the list. According to WorldBlu, this year's list is the most globally diverse to date with companies ranging in size from five to 90,000 employees and generating more than $17 billion in combined annual revenue.

People want freedom rather than fear in the workplace, said WorldBlu founder and CEO Traci Fenton. WorldBlu-certified organizations model how democracy in the workplace unleashes human potential and builds highly successful organizations that change the world for the better.

Founded in 1998, Dyn is a Internet Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS) leader, powering Managed DNS and email delivery for more than 4 million enterprise, small business and personal users.
