DEW Construction prides itself on providing employees with advancement opportunities as each member of its leadership team has come up through the ranks. DEW mentors and develops project engineers, helping to determine whether they are best suited for the project management or superintendent track, allowing junior employees to choose their path rather than being pigeonholed into one. DEW’s trades program focuses on recruiting employees who want to advance in the trades, developing carpenters, forepersons, assistant superintendents and superintendents.

To aid in that recruitment, DEW Construction offers an employee referral program that pays $500 when the new hire starts, and the referee receives another $1,500 after the new hire has been with the company for six months.

While employees in the field are required to be onsite to suit the project timeline, the company works with each employee's personal needs and flex schedules as needed. Employees in the field are set up with the same technology they would be able to access in the office. Some positions in the company come with a new company vehicle and gas card, computer and phone.

And while construction still tends to be a male dominated industry, DEW's workforce is comprised of 15% women, higher than the industry average of 9% to 11%. Women hold upper-level positions within every department of the company. DEW offers four weeks of paid parental leave for mothers and fathers, including parents adopting a child.

DEW encourages it employees to give back to the community, offering eight hours of paid community service annually and matching employee donations up to $150 annually.
