Bedford Village Inn Hires New Executive Chef

Published Tuesday Jun 21, 2011

The Carnevale family, owners of the Bedford Village Inn in Bedford, appointed Benjamin Knack to executive chef.

Knack studied at New York Institute of Technology and launched his career in Phoenix, Arizona at Christopher's, a four-star restaurant rated as among the top 20 in America. Most recently, he presided over the kitchen at The Lanam Club in Andover, Mass., though he has held similar positions at Sel de la Terre, L'Espalier and Beacon Hill Bistro, all located in Boston.

Food is more than something to eat. It brings family and friends together. It creates experiences that are memorable for a lifetime, says Knack, I'm a very technical chef."

Knack appeared on an episode of the TV program Hell's Kitchen during season seven. He says of his decision to compete, I worked in physical kitchens with a bunch of French and Italian chefs who would scream, yell and throw things, so when I heard about Hell's Kitchen I said, I can handle that!'

I am pleased to join the prestigious Bedford Village Inn and look forward to imparting my culinary philosophy and skills I acquired at similar properties throughout the country to create a memorable dining experience for all our guests at the BVI. I am also anxious to create a unique children's cooking series at the Inn involving recipes I will be using in my book series.

Knack currently resides in Medford, Mass. with his wife and two young daughters.

The Bedford Village Inn is a former farm estate dating back to 1890. The original residence now houses three culinary concepts including the dining rooms, which serve contemporary New England regional cuisine. The Tavern serves an extensive casual menu, Corks is a contemporary space where guests enjoy an exclusive menu, extensive wine list by the glass or bottle and a full bar, and The Patio offers dining al fresco. The Bedford Village Inn and Restaurant is the longest running Four Diamond property in the state. It has received many awards including: DiRona and the Best of Wine Spectator Award of Excellence. BVI is a member of Select Registry Distinguished Inns of North America.
