Each day, we profile one member of our 2012 Influencer Index.

Alice Chamberlin has made it her life's work to protect the environment. Chamberlin, an attorney, worked for the NH Lung Association in the late 70s addressing acid rain and then served as environmental policy assistant to Gov. Hugh Gallen. She also served on a commission in the late 90s that recommended the creation of LCHIP, the Land and Community Heritage Investment Program. She has also worked for Gov. John H. Lynch as advisor on environmental issues and renewable energy, and served on the 2009 NH Climate Change Task Force. The heart of all the work I do is bringing people together to figure out what their common values are, what their differences are and where there is an opportunity to move forward, Chamberlin says. She is currently a member of The Nature Conservancy's policy committee in NH. Between 1994 and 2001, she worked as a United States commissioner to the International Joint Commission, which addressed water disputes between the U.S. and Canada.

Alice has deep political experience with state, regional and national perspectives, says Jameson French, president and CEO of Northland Forest Products Inc. in Kingston, who has served with Chamberlin on committees over the years.
