Accessible and affordable healthcare is the driving principle behind ConvenientMD, a New England chain that has grown to 41 urgent care clinics and four primary care offices across NH, Massachusetts, and Maine in the past decade.

Dickens, a UNH graduate of the College of Business and Economics, co-founded ConvenientMD in 2012. This came after he and his investors from Market Square Capital spent two years researching healthcare data and walking through more than 200 urgent care centers across the country. Back in NH, they realized the Granite State didn’t have any non-hospital based urgent care.

“It turned out that right in our backyard was a severe unmet need,” Dickens says, adding ConvenientMD bridges the gap between overloaded primary care offices and overburdened ERs.

In addition to its urgent care clinics, ConvenientMD has three primary care offices in NH (Portsmouth, Manchester, and Exeter) as well as one in Portland, Maine. Dickens says the focus is on preventative care there, unlike urgent care. In 2018, Dickens helped to launch OI Infusion, where he serves as executive chairman. OI Infusion partners with physicians to provide community-based specialty medication infusions.
