25 Leaders for the Future Revisited

In 2009, we kicked off our 25th anniversary celebration by profiling 25 NH residents we felt would lead the Granite State into the future. We asked leaders across the state to nominate those they believed would leave their mark.

To celebrate our 30th anniversary, we’re revisiting these “25 Leaders for the Future,” updating their journeys and adding five more intriguing leaders to the list.

Chris Williams

President and CEO,

Greater Nashua Chamber of Commerce

Chris Williams continues to serve as president and CEO of the Greater Nashua Chamber of Commerce, where he leads and influences major initiatives shaping one of the state’s important economic hubs.

After two years of work, Nashua launched a branding campaign in 2013 which Williams says allows city and chamber officials to “sing off the same page” when promoting the region to those looking to start a business. Williams believes this approach is increasing the Nashua area’s marketing reach.

Looking ahead, Williams says he is making progress on building relationships between the chamber and the south Asian immigrant community that has taken root in the city—keeping with his interest in building community, an issue he identified five years ago. “Nashua’s population is comprised of almost six percent Indian-Americans, and while this community is incredibly successful and thriving, it is also very insular,” he says.

He has worked closely with Nashua state Rep. Latha Mangipudi to engage this community and connect them to business, social, community and political leadership opportunities. At the same time, he’s making connections with business and political leaders in cities like Mysore and Bangalore. “Doing this will allow us to better attract more Indian-Americans to study at our colleges and universities, take jobs within Nashua and start their own business ventures within the Nashua community,” he predicts.
