11th NH Young Professional Network Launched

Published Wednesday Feb 29, 2012

New Hampshire now has its 11th young professional network, the Upper Valley Young Professionals (UVYP, which has set three goals for the young professionals in the area Meet, Develop, and Contribute.

We're trying to establish a balance: what could work better to serve our young professionals in this region, and also how our young professionals can giveback to the community, said Jacqueline (Jack) Buettner, chair of the steering committee for the UVYP. It's very exciting, and at the same time has high potential to be very rewarding.

Stay Work Play is pleased to see this addition to the NH young professional community and to their Young Professional Network Advisory Board, which brings representatives from all 11 of the young professional networks (YPNs) together monthly to share upcoming events and news, best practices, to allow mentoring from more established groups to those just arriving on the scene, and offer ways to help the YPNs.

We have already seen tremendous energy in the Steering Committee for the UVYP and are thrilled to have another young professionals network partner to help promote our goal of retaining our best and brightest minds and building the strongest possible economy in our state, said Stay Work Play Executive Director Kate Luczko.

The UVYP has demonstrated strong local business support as well. As Hypertherm grows we strive to develop talent within our organization as well as find new talent to join our team. Partnering with the Upper Valley Young Professionals fulfills a need to both retain and attractyoung professionals to the Upper Valley and the dynamic career opportunities here. Our region offers so much professionally and personally and the UVYP will illuminate that depth of potential to all young professionals, said Jenny Levy, director of Corporate Social Responsibility at Hypertherm, Inc.

The other 10, all also regionally based, young professionals networks include: Catapult (Seacoast), Central New Hampshire (Plymouth), Concord (CYPN), HYPE: Helping Young Professionals Excel (Salem), iUGO (Nashua), Keene, Lakes Region (LRYP), Manchester (MYPN), Mt. Washington Valley (MWVYPN), and the Young Professionals of Sullivan County. Collectively these groups have more than 10,000 NH young professional members.

The Upper Valley Young Professionals had their first event on Tuesday, February 21 at the AVA Gallery in Lebanon. Details can be found on the UVYP Facebook page: www.facebook.com/UVYoungProfessionals.
