In the Spotlight: Colliers International, a commercial real estate firm, sold the 8,262± SF mixed-use building at 205 Market Street in downtown Portsmouth. David Choate and Andrew Ward, of Colliers’ Portsmouth office, represented the seller, Betty Belcher and Seth Morton Associates, in the transaction. Tony Jalbert, of Tate & Foss Sotheby’s International, represented the Buyer, 409 Franklin Pierce Highway, LLC. According to the Rockingham County Registry of Deeds, the sale price was $3.7 million, which represents full asking price.

The sale included a four-story, waterfront, mixed-use building and a vacant parking lot with a total of 22 parking spaces for tenants or additional redevelopment. The building is fully occupied with 1st floor retail space and 6 apartments.

NH Mutual Bancorpnhmb and sister companies Meredith Village Savings Bank, Merrimack County Savings Bank, Savings Bank of Walpole and NHTrust have partnered with Zonta Club of Concord’s vaccine awareness campaign. The club produced and distributed buttons featuring Rosie the Riveter that read “Can’t Wait to Vaccinate!” and “Got the Shot!” which employees are wearing. NH Tech Alliance is offering a free online Startup Fundamentals program for NH tech entrepreneurs that begins in March. The four-week curriculum includes evaluating ideas, business models, value propositions, product/market fit, customers, revenue models, financing, pitching and more.

Service Credit Union in Portsmouth donated $25,000 to support the SEE Science Center’s Inclusion Initiative, a special program designed to provide STEM services to traditionally marginalized communities. The Center in Manchester works with community partners such as the YMCA, Boys and Girls Club, Girls Inc., and Title 1 schools to deliver free programs to students who need it most.

New England College (NEC) has formed a new dual-degree path with the Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences in Boston (MCPHS). Many students who graduate with NEC’s bachelor’s degree in Health Science go on to pursue advanced degrees in medicine, including post-baccalaureate nursing, pharmacy, physical therapy and biomedicine. As an expansion of established articulation agreements for these programs at MCPHS, the two institutions came up with a way to shave off a year of studies and enable students to graduate with two degrees, Health Science and Nursing, in five years. Graduates would then be able to sit for the National Council Licensure Exam (NCLEX) to become registered nurses.

Real Estate development firm Elm Grove Companies donated $20,000 to support the work of several Manchester non-profits severely impacted by COVID-19, including Manchester Proud, Manchester Police Athletic League, Boys and Girls Club of Manchester, Big Brothers Big Sisters of NH, Manchester Community Music School and the YMCA of Downtown Manchester.
