In the Spotlight: Spaulding Youth Center in Northfield presented its Spaulding Spirit Award to Nick Silva, admissions assistant. This peer-nominated recognition is presented quarterly to an employee who exemplifies Spaulding Spirit and makes peers proud to be working by their side. Silva joined Spaulding in 2014 as an academic aide and has worn many hats in his time at the organization, including paraprofessional, residential counselor and associate teacher.

The Emmaus’ 31st Annual Cycle for Shelter event, sponsored by Marshall Jespersen, dealer principal and International Cars, Ltd. dealerships, including Audi and Porsche in Stratham, Dover Honda and Dover Chevrolet, and Honda North in Danvers, Mass., raised more than $160,000.

CASA of New Hampshire in Manchester received three recent grants from Sprague Energy ($5,000), the Fuller Foundation ($7,041), and the Amherst Junior Women’s Club ($1,000). These grants will help support the recruitment, training and supervision of volunteer advocates to provide a voice for abused and neglected children and youth in court so they may thrive in safe, permanent homes.

North Branch Construction of Concord completed the renovation of the 14,287-square-foot New London Police Station and Recreation Department, which share occupancy of the Buker Building and Whipple Hall.

The Provident bank promoted Elliot Smith of its Bedford office to assistant vice president, commercial lending officer. Smith was recently accepted into Leadership Greater Manchester Class of 2020 program and is a member of Granite United Way’s Emerging Leadership Society.

Seacoast Dermatology PLLC added Emily Farrell to its dermatology practice. Her focus is on skin cancer detection and women’s skin related issues including adult acne, gynecological dermatology, hair loss, nutrition, and anti-aging. Farrell is currently accepting new patients at the Portsmouth location.

Christopher Blais joined Bar Harbor Bank & Trust as VP, community banking relationship manager, working from the bank’s office in New London, serving the Central New Hampshire region. With more than 25 years of experience in financial services, Blais’ is experienced in banking, commercial lending, cash management and other financial products.

Northeast Credit Union’s Portsmouth branch hosted the CA$H Coalition’s Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program, which offers free tax preparation services to members of the community. This year, NECU helped process 555 federal returns, which resulted in $714,520 in refunds returned to individuals and families. The program processed 227 additional returns and is supported by the Rockingham Community Action Program and the United Way of the Greater Seacoast.

The Greater Nashua Chamber of Commerce appointed Anthony Hegstrom as director of membership. Prior to joining the Chamber, Hegstrom served as corporate partnerships manager for the Manchester Monarchs hockey organization.

Plymouth State University has integrated its offices of communications and marketing, enrollment and student life into one group, Communications, Enrollment & Student Life. The newly-formed group will be the conduit for students and families who are exploring PSU as an option for higher education, guide them through enrollment and help enrich the PSU experience.
