Seven Contestants Make It to Final Round of adVENTURE Challenge

Published Tuesday Apr 14, 2015

The Capital adVENTURE Challenge, a Littleton Industrial Development Corporation and Littleton Area Chamber of Commerce initiative, is designed to help Littleton's entrepreneurs grow and flourish, with a small business plan competition that encourages innovative ideas and strong entrepreneurial spirit within the Littleton area.

Contestants began competing in January and then worked through four rounds of testing to measure savviness and viabilities. While the competition began with almost 30 entries, only seven entrepreneurs will make their business pitch to a live audience on May 8 at the Littleton Opera House.

“The competition has helped prepare participants for success of their venture, or as we like to think of it, their adVENTURE,” said Lauren Anderson, executive director of Littleton Area Chamber of Commerce. “We look forward to welcoming members of the community, entrepreneurial advisors, and angel investors to our grand finale to show off what innovation and talent we have in the North Country.”

The Capital adVENTURE Challenge is designed to support small businesses within their first three years of opening and who make less than $100,000 in annual revenue. The competition is designed to provide business support for all applicants and, for the winner, a cash grant to be used for business purposes. The Grand Prize Winner will receive a $4000 grant and a business service package valued at over $500. One runner-up will receive a grant of $1000 and a business service package valued at over $250. And finally, the People's Choice winner, voted on by the community at the presentation of pitches, will walk away with a $500 cash grant and over $250 in business services.

"We hope that participants will use the opportunity provided by the Littleton Industrial Development Corporation and the Littleton Area Chamber of Commerce to not only develop next-generation businesses, but to help establish an ecosystem that will cause innovation and technologies to surge throughout the North Country and the world,” said Anderson. “We have greatly enjoyed seeing entrepreneurs come out of the woodwork to show us what ideas keep them up at night, gears turning. The North Country is full of innovators, and we are proud of the work that has been done to take those hatchling ideas and launch them into success.”
