In a competitive marketplace where most of what The Granite Group (TGG) sells can also be bought from other wholesalers, the company leadership knows it is their people who truly set them apart and keep the customers coming back. Because of this, the company works hard to empower and engage employees.

This year, TGG added DailyPay, where associates can work today and get paid tomorrow, allowing them access to their earned money when they need it. It also increased maternity leave to 12 weeks and added a two-week paternity leave.

Each of its branches has the freedom to manage teams as they see fit and are encouraged to essentially operate as their company. Every quarter, the executive team visits each Granite Group location to discuss the business and get feedback from branch associates.

The Granite Group’s wellness program reimburses $100 annually for gym membership, and employees can also get reimbursed $150 through the health insurance plan, $250 per year for any fitness-related activity, and up to $100 annually for trying out a new class like Barre, Pilates, or Yoga.

The company holds its TGG University annually, geared to emerging leaders. Team members are partnered with a leader or executive, work as teams on real-world projects, and present their projects to the executive team. Upon graduation, participants each receive a bonus.

The company also has a trainee program designed to take recent college graduates, those exiting the military, or others with limited experience and train them to step into an operations management or sales role within two years. Trainees are offered a loan repayment of up to $1,200 a year. The company also offers all employees up to $5,250 annually for continuing education.
