Upstart Startups: Coa Realty Focuses on Minority Homebuyers

Understanding the in and outs of the homebuying process and building wealth for their clients of color is the core mission of Coa Realty Group in Plaistow, started by Jennifer Coa and her husband Moises in 2021.

“I grew up in a low-income situation and was never taught anything about buying homes,” says Jennifer, who began her career in real estate 18 years ago. “I saw a lot of people who were stuck. We believe it doesn’t matter where you come from. If you want to buy a home, we’ll get
you there.”

Moises has a background in operations analytics. He was managing a team of realtors when he and his wife, married for 17 years with two children, decided to start a team, specializing in residential real estate, with a Keller Williams franchise.

“We took a leap of faith opening our own company because we feel very passionately about education. The more you know, the more you value your decisions to position yourself to have generational wealth,” Moises says. “We’re focused on injecting information into our community.”

“We’re focused on our mission and vision of giving minorities a chance to see themselves as homeowners. We’re not all about the money. Money is a consequence of our relationships,” Jennifer says.

In the past two years Coa Realty Group has sold 250 homes around Andover, Massachusetts and the southern NH towns of Atkinson, Plaistow, and Newton.

One of Coa’s clients recently bought a single-family home in Manchester and now wants to open a Spanish food restaurant, Jennifer says. “I sent her the information about establishing an LLC and she’s well on her way after meeting with an attorney,” she says. “She’s looking to bring value to the community.”
