In December 2025, NH took a significant step to simplify how businesses interact with state government, launching the NH Business Gateway, an online portal designed to help entrepreneurs and business owners plan, manage, and grow their companies.

Developed by the NH Department of Business and Economic Affairs (BEA) in partnership with the NH Department of Information Technology, the Gateway brings together more than 130 business-related resources previously spread across more than a dozen state agencies. For the state’s more than 137,000 small businesses, the portal makes it easier to navigate startup requirements, compliance, and expansion opportunities.

Accessible at nhbusinessgateway.gov, the platform is built around the most common questions business owners ask, guiding users through three core stages: Start, Manage, and Grow. The Start section helps entrepreneurs develop a business plan, register an entity, and apply for licenses and tax accounts, while Manage and Grow support compliance, workforce needs, capital access, and development programs.

At the center of the experience is a customizable business dashboard so users can track deadlines, permits, and filings in one place. The Gateway also introduces NH Access, the state’s first single sign-on system, enabling secure access to multiple agencies with one login.

The Gateway is the first centralized business portal of its kind in New England and reflects BEA’s broader effort to modernize how businesses engage with state services.
