Shaw's Supermarkets Charitable Foundation donated $15,000 to The Boys & Girls Club of Greater Nashua, and the money is earmarked for the facility's teen center and clubhouse improvement project.

This generous donation comes at a great time in our project. Much of the demolition is complete and we are well underway in the construction process, said Norm Bouthilette, chief executive officer for the Boys & Girls Club of Greater Nashua. We are thankful to receive this support from Shaw's Supermarkets. Many of our members have been employed at Shaw's to earn money for college and many of our donors, members, and families shop at Shaw's. It's great that Shaw's will help us expand programs and provide affordable after school options for up to 600 youth a day."

The renovation and repurposing of the club's 34-year old facility located at 47 Grand Avenue in Nashua will cost $3.5 million. The teen center should open within the first quarter of 2009, and the entire project is slated to be complete by next summer.

The Boys & Girls Club of Greater Nashua annually serves 4,200 boys and girls ages 5 to 18 in six locations throughout Nashua, Merrimack, and Litchfield. It reaches another 10,000 youngsters in the community.

Shaw's, Osco and Star Market are a division of SUPERVALU INC. Throughout the six New England states, there are more than 200 store locations employing approximately 28,000 associates.
