Portsmouth Community Radio Launches Live Downtown Broadcast

Published Thursday Jul 7, 2011

Beginning on Friday, July 8th, Portsmouth area radio listeners will be given the opportunity to appreciate the Seacoast through the eyes of its visitors.

That's the concept behind Live From Market Square, a new summertime weekly broadcast on Portsmouth Community Radio (WSCA at 106.1 FM) from Me & Ollie's Bakery/Cafe on Pleasant Street, downtown Portsmouth. Hosted by Ann Haggart, the half-hour show will feature interviews with tourists to the area, engaging them in conversation about their lives, their travels, and their perceptions about our part of the world.

Live From Market Square will air on Fridays from 1 to 1:30 p.m. until August 19. Kim Sedlock will handle the engineering responsibilities for the program, as well as act as associate producer.

Haggart, who is Portsmouth Community Radio's director of new and public affairs, also hosts the weekly program Radiogazette (Fridays, 9-10 am). Haggart has had a long career as a professional educator, is a published co-author of numerous professional articles and a national professional conference presenter.

Portsmouth Community Radio is a listener-supported, volunteer-operated radio station whose mission is to offer programming that reflects the interests and tastes of the Seacoast listening community. Those interested in volunteering at the radio station in either on-air or supportive roles are urged to email volunteer@wscafm.org or visit the station's site at portsmouthcommunityradio.org.
