One Seacoast Landscaper Prepares for Earth Day

Published Tuesday Apr 19, 2011

Piscataqua Landscaping Co, Inc. in Portsmouth plans to rejuvenate Hanscom Park, located in the Atlantic Heights neighborhood in Portsmouth, in honor of Earth Day 2011.

In collaboration with Everett Kern at the Department of Public Works in Portsmouth, the company identified Hanscom Park as an area that needed rejuvenation but lacked the funding and manpower to get it completed, according to Justin Gamester of Piscataqua Landscaping. "After the decision was made, we developed a plan that includes trimming the ornamental trees in the park, a spring cleanup, garden bed edging, shrub pruning and the installation of a new planting around the park's memorial and the American flag. Preliminary work will start this week but the main thrust will occur on Friday, April 22, when Piscataqua employees will swarm the park in a landscape blitz," Gamester said.

Piscataqua Landscaping has teamed up with PLANET, the national lawn and landscape association, in its "Day of Service" for this year's Earth Day Project. The Day of Service is when member companies organize lawn and landscape projects nationwide. It allows for hundreds of volunteer projects to be completed across the country in just one day.
