New Hampshire sports fans bet more than $7.7 million on the Superowl in which the Los Angeles Rams emerged victorious against the Cincinnati Bengals 23-20. Gamblers in NH preferred the Cincinnati Bengals, with about 70% of bets placed on that team.
Total mobile gambling topped $6.6 million and players placed an additional $1.1 million in wagers at the state's retail sportsbooks. Roughly 28% of DraftKings NH wagers came from those with Massachusetts addresses.
“New England sports fans are the best in the country, and even though the Patriots did not make it to the Big Game, this did not deter New Hampshire players from getting in on the action,” said Charlie McIntyre, executive director, NH Lottery. “The volume of wagering speaks for itself as sports betting continues to build momentum in New Hampshire."
Aside from betting on the game’s outcome and point spread, some of the most popular bets by NH players included betting Cooper Kupp or Ja’Marr Chase to have a 50+ yard touchdown reception, betting that Matthew Stafford would be the game’s MVP and longshot parlay bets on Matthew Stafford or Joe Burrow to throw for more than 375 yards and three touchdowns in the game. Players also placed a number of novelty prop bets, such as betting on a game-winning field goal at the end of regulation or betting that one team would score three unanswered times.
The NH Lottery and DraftKings have opened three retail sportsbook locations: The Brook in Seabrook opened in August 2020; DraftKings Sportsbook at Filotimo in Manchester opened September 2020: and Filotimo opening a sister location in Dover in October 2021.
