NH Lottery Passes $1 Billion in Sports Wagering

The New Hampshire Lottery and DraftKings have surpassed the $1 billion mark in total sports wagering since sports betting began in NH two years ago. The milestone was reached earlier this month, less than a week after marking sports betting’s two-year anniversary in the state.

NH players have placed more than 23 million bets since December 30, 2019.

“New Hampshire sports betting has achieved such remarkable success in our first two years, cementing New Hampshire as the premier sports betting destination in the northeast, driving more than $30 million in critical support for our schools,” said Governor Chris Sununu. “I look forward to celebrating this incredible milestone by placing a bet on our New England Patriots this weekend as they kick-off the playoffs on their way to another Super Bowl. Sports betting was the right bet for New Hampshire and the Patriots are always the right bet for Granite Staters.”

In addition to mobile sports betting, the NH Lottery and DraftKings have opened three retail sports betting locations. DraftKings Sportsbook at The Brook in Seabrook opened in August 2020 and DraftKings Sportsbook at Filotimo in Manchester opened in September 2020, with Filotimo opening a sister location in Dover in October 2021.

Charlie McIntyre, executive director of the NH Lottery, said, "Our success over the past two years demonstrates that sports betting is a perfect fit for our market. We are pleased with what we have accomplished and we are excited to continue growing sports betting as a revenue driver supporting our schools.”

The 2021 Super Bowl was the largest single-game sports betting event, with the game generating $7.1 million in wagers. Over the past two years, the top-five sports betting drivers have been the NFL, NBA, college basketball, college football and table tennis.

The New England Patriots continue to remain the most bet on team by NH gamblers and the Lottery anticipates the NFL playoffs and the 2022 Super Bowl will continue to generate consistent growth in Fiscal Year 2022.

“We knew from the beginning that sports betting would be a significant driver for the New Hampshire Lottery, and reaching this milestone in only two years is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our entire team,” said Deborah Douglas, chair of the Lottery Commission.

To commemorate the two-year anniversary, NH Lottery and DraftKings are offering promotions for both new and existing users. When new users bet at least $10 on any NFL Wildcard playoff game and when existing users double the odds on the Patriots to win the Super Bowl, they will receive a $20 free bet.

NH residents can download the DraftKings Sportsbook app to place wagers through DraftKings. Sports fans can place bets on the DraftKings Sportsbook app via iOS and Android or online at Sportsbook.DraftKings.com.
