Nemo Among NH Sustainability Award Winners

NEMO, an independent designer of outdoor gear and accessories in Dover, has won NH Businesses for Social Responsibility’s (NHBSR) Measure What Matters Community Award.

NHBSR celebrated the efforts of the state’s most environmentally and socially conscious businesses at the NH Sustainability Awards, held in March. The event celebrated the work of NH companies and individuals driving positive change throughout the pandemic.

The 2022 Sustainability Award Winners were recognized for their demonstrated leadership in Community, Environment, Governance, Workplace and Diversity, Equity and Inclusion efforts. The event also highlighted the outstanding efforts of the state’s next generation of sustainability leaders from its universities, as well as business leaders with systemic, robust and enduring impact within New Hampshire.

The other winners are:

Cornerstone Innovator Award Winner: Lisa Drake was recognized for her efforts to advance sustainability through her work at Stonyfield Organics and her dedication to building a strong advocacy effort for socially responsible businesses through NHBSR’s Advocacy Committee.  Her efforts resulted in the Clean Energy Principles and opposition to Divisive Concepts language in New Hampshire. Lisa continues to be a sustainable business champion in her current work as the Fleet Electrification Manager for Merchants Fleet.

Systemic Leadership: ReVision Energy was honored for their leadership in addressing challenges and using them to cultivate opportunities for our state.  As Katie Schwerin, CMO of W.S. Badger, the 2020 winner of the award stated, “They (ReVision Energy) see the whole picture and the need for us all to work towards a viable solution for the long term health and wellbeing of the planet. These are challenging times for many reasons, but the climate crisis continues to loom big, and this company is stepping up to meet the need for achievable solutions.”

Environment: Lonza Biologics was honored for their efforts to reduce waste and their carbon footprint, engaging their employees at all levels, while still reacting swiftly to ramp up production of the mRNA COVID-19 vaccine.

Governance: Northeast Delta Dental was recognized for their leadership in Governance, specifically their attention to all of their stakeholders, and collaboratively developing their strategies and goals.

Workplace: MobilityWorks was selected for their demonstrated belief that their employees are their greatest asset and their willingness to invest in their development at all levels.  They strive to understand that people carry challenges with them to work and focus on overcoming employment obstacles.

Diversity, Equity and Inclusion: Mascoma Bank was recognized for their approach to DEI engaging a multifaceted lens, thinking about the ways they can open doors via education, products and open conversation.  They continually explore opportunities to create an exceptional workplace and a stronger community.

Student Change Agent Award Winners: Anastasia Morrison (Saint Anselm College), Paul Michael (Granite State College) and Colleen Spear (University of New Hampshire) have each made positive and impressive changes on (and off) their respective campuses as students, positively impacting their communities and workplaces. These young sustainability leaders will undoubtedly continue to inspire and engage.
