Monadnock Menus, Cheshire County's local food delivery service, is adding a new delivery route. Starting on July 15, Monadnock Menus will deliver every Friday to Keene, Peterborough, and points south, including Jaffrey, Rindge, Fitzwilliam, Troy, Richmond, Winchester, and Swanzey.
"Monadnock Menus is bursting at the seams. We can't reach all the people we need to reach with our regular Wednesday route," says Alex McCullough, manager. "We are expanding our weekly deliveries to bring locally-produced food to more parts of Cheshire County, but also so that we can satisfy growing demand in the Keene-Peterborough corridor, the area that we've been operating in for four years."
Monadnock Menus is a program of the Cheshire County Conservation District. It is a food delivery service specializing in source-identified local products. It offers wholesale buyers items from 35 farmers and food producers in Cheshire and Windham counties. First piloted in 2011, Monadnock Menus is expected to deliver around $150,000 worth of local food in 2016 to more than 40 local institutions, businesses, and buying clubs. Farmers and producers control listings and pricing on the Monadnock Menus ordering site, and buyers can purchase from all farmers at once, in one delivery, and with a single invoice.
