HAMPTON — Hampton Beach could be just one summer away from a two- to three-year stretch without one of its biggest draws — the Casino Ballroom complex across from the Seashell Stage on Ocean Boulevard.
Beach officials and business leaders say the loss of the landmark at 169 Ocean Blvd., which also houses gaming, shops, and parking, will pose challenges for visitors and local businesses. However, they believe the long-term payoff will be worth it.
"What do they say? 'You can't make an omelet without breaking some eggs?'" said Tom McGuirk, owner of McGuirk's Ocean View. "I think people have to recognize that."
The 126-year-old building is slated for demolition to make way for a $400 million to $600 million redevelopment.
