Exeter Health Resources Officially Becomes Part of Beth Israel Lahey Health

Exeter Health Resources will officially become part of the Beth Israel Lahey Health system in Massachusetts, effective July 1.

Exeter Health Resources and Beth Israel Lahey Health (BILH) made the announcement Friday, June 30, noting they have secured all the necessary regulatory approvals for the merger.

"BILH is committed to keeping communities healthy through a comprehensive system of community-based services, local hospitals and nationally recognized teaching hospitals, supported by world-class research and education," Exeter Health Resources and BILH stated in a joint press release. "With this transaction, BILH will extend its integrated care model and expertise to Southern New Hampshire. By joining BILH, Exeter will secure local access to expanded not-for-profit healthcare services for generations to come and create more sustainable choices for healthcare consumers and purchasers."

Exeter Health Resources includes Exeter Hospital, Core Physicians and Rockingham Visiting Nurse Association & Hospice. Beth Israel Lahey Health currently includes 13 hospitals, all in Massachusetts, including Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center of Boston and Anna Jaques Hospital in Newburyport.

The news comes after the New Hampshire attorney general's office signed off on Exeter Health Resources joining BILH with stipulations outlined in an agreement signed by all parties.

Merrimack County Superior Court Judge Amy L. Ignatius approved the agreement on Thursday, June 29.
