Despite the “Great Resignation” that took place nationwide, DEW Construction has not had one single employee leave in the past year.

Appreciation is part of what keeps employees at DEW. The leadership team drove over 300 miles to five states to deliver their annual employee appreciation gift bags at all their job sites. And, this past year, the gift bag included a hand-made cutting board crafted by one of the company’s superintendents who does woodworking in his spare time, local cheese and sausage, a thermal water bottle, jellies and a $100 Visa card.

In addition to bonuses based on performance, DEW pays employees $250 for referring new employees, and after that new hire’s six-month anniversary, the referring employee receives another $1,500.

A flex-time policy allows employees to set their own schedule between 7 a.m. and 6 p.m. and to work remotely when possible. Employees also receive eight hours of paid time off annually to volunteer in addition to their 20 days of paid time off, six sick days and seven paid holidays.

DEW offers an onsite gym as well as yoga classes and massages. The company also provides monthly “Lunch and Learn” wellness seminars on topics covering physical, mental and financial health as well as stress management. And, for employees who get regular and routine wellness visits, including dental checkups, the company provides gas cards up to $100 a year.

DEW also invests in employee’s careers, providing $1,000 of tuition reimbursement annually, online seminars, mentors and career advancement shadowing.
