Last November 264 participating NH high school students submitted 533 college applications during the weeklong I am College Bound/I Applied program at six public high schools in the Granite State. This year, the NH Higher Education Assistance Foundation (NHHEAF) is once again working on the national program through the American College Application Campaign and has grown it to 14 public high schools.
The purpose of this college access program is to increase the number of low-income and first-generation high school students who pursue a postsecondary education by inviting them to submit at least one college admission application during a particular day with the support of their school and local higher education professionals. The program will be touring NH high public school this week.
In addition to application support, students receive promotional materials from I Am College Bound/I Applied, including a take-home folder with comprehensive follow-up information on next steps in the college admissions and financial aid processes. Each participating high school receives one $500 scholarship to be raffled and awarded to a participating students.
