Boothby Therapy Services empowers employees to take charge of their lives, and that begins on Day One. Boothby’s multi-step onboarding begins with an “Initial Discovery Meeting” where newbies learn about the company’s mission, and leaders, in turn, learn about the new hire as a person.

For step two, the onboarding process includes a survey of the new hire’s personal and professional preferences. Next comes a deep dive into those professional experiences and preferences, including what type of students they enjoy working with, what ages, what types of challenging behaviors and how they like to provide therapy so that Boothby can match them with the students and school systems that are the best fit.

Through a Life Empowerment Program, employees define their own schedule and receive one-on-one support with similarly licensed professionals.

At the beginning of each year, employees identify their “Favorite Things” from food to music to hobbies and scents to ensure thank you gifts are appropriate. And every manager is given a tool box with gift cards for various restaurants and retailers to reward employees.

When employees noted that competitors offered superior benefits, Boothby surveyed employees to see how they could improve and, subsequently, rolled out paid holiday time, bereavement time and sick days (which are not industry standards), an Employee Assistance Program, additional professional development and an educational assistance program fund. Management also increased wages. The result has been an improved employee retention rate and higher efficiency and employee satisfaction.
