In the spotlight: Cheshire Medical Center in Keene hired Joshua Johnson, MD, and Joshua Sowick, MD to its Emergency Department. Prior to coming to Cheshire, Johnson finished his emergency medicine residency at the Nassau University Medical Center in East Meadow, New York, a Level 1 trauma center. Sowick completed his emergency medicine residency at Temple University Hospital in Philadelphia, where he has been serving as a resident physician for the past several years.

Throwback Brewery in North Hampton was the first craft beverage producer recognized by the NH Sustainable Craft Beverage Recognition Program for outstanding environmental leadership and sustainability efforts.

Bar Harbor Bank & Trust donated $2,500 to Marguerite’s Place, a nonprofit organization whose mission is to help women with children achieve self-sufficiency by providing them with safe, stable, transitional housing along with emotional, educational, and supportive services.

The Preservation Alliance hired Andrew Cushing, preservation expert, to provide services to community leaders and property owners who are working to save, re-use or revitalize historic properties and utilize planning and preservation tools to encourage stewardship and investment. Cushing is the president of the all-volunteer Mascoma Valley Preservation.

Bank of New Hampshire was voted Gold in five categories of the fourth annual Best of the Lakes Region awards for 2022. For the fourth consecutive year, Bank of New Hampshire was awarded as the Gold Winner in Bank/Credit Union, Place to Work and Customer Service, while improving from Silver in previous years to Gold in Financial Advisor/Planner and Home Mortgage.

Heather Owen, owner and art director of H2O Salon Spa & Boutique in Bedford, is back “behind the chair” at her salon in the Bedford Grove shopping center. After a long bout with illness related to undiagnosed Lyme disease, Owen is looking forward to returning to the salon and designing hair and continuing to manage the business.

Bar Harbor Bank & Trust has named 15 recent high school graduates as recipients of the Bank’s 2022 Career Technology Education Scholarship, with $1,000 awards presented to students in Maine, NH and VT who attended a technical career program as part of their high school curriculum and are planning to attend college or a technical school after graduation. New Hampshire Scholarship Recipients:

Annalee Hall of Newport is a 2022 graduate of Newport Middle High School and attended Sugar River Valley Regional Technical Center. She plans to study business at the UNH.

Emilee Mayotte of Grantham is a 2022 graduate of Hartford High School and attended Hartford Area Career and Technology Center. She plans to study cosmetology at the New England School of Hair Design.

Nick Merzi of Peterborough is a 2022 graduate of ConVal Regional High School and attended Applied Technology Center. He plans to study industrial maintenance at Northern Michigan University.

Anam Tariq of Manchester is a 2022 graduate of Manchester Memorial High School and attended Manchester School of Technology. She plans to study nursing at Saint Anselm College.

Alexander Thibeault of Nashua is a 2022 graduate of Nashua High School and attended Nashua Technology Center. He plans to study business/sports management at the University of New England.
