In the spotlight: NHTrust has pledged $5,000 to support the Hundred Nights Shelter’s $5.5 million capital campaign over the next two years. Hundred Nights is a year round shelter and resource center in Keene, which purchased property on Water Street to build a new facility to place their full shelter-bed capacity and supportive services under one roof and within walking distance of partner agencies

The board of trustees of the Community College System of NH appointed Patrick Cate as interim president of Lakes Region Community College in Laconia. Cate’s appointment will take effect July 21, upon the departure of outgoing president Dr. Larissa Ruiz Baia.

John Brie was recently appointed project architect at JSA Design in Portsmouth. Brie has worked in commercial and residential architecture, most recently as an architect and project manager for Walker Architects in Gainesville, FL.

The Alnoba Lewis Family Foundation released Daring Women Who Change the World, a quote-of-the-day compilation of words of wit or wisdom from great women leaders. Profits will be donated to the Grand Circle Foundation to support Ukrainian refugees and renovate the roof and heating system of Poland’s Trzebnica Orphanage, which houses 60 orphans from Ukraine.

Colliers, a commercial real estate services firm, facilitated the investment sale of Granite Hill Shoppes & Office Park, a 100% occupied multitenant retail/office plaza in Hooksett. Hugo Overdeput, of Colliers’ Manchester office, represented the Seller, Kassas Real Estate Development, Inc. According to the Merrimack County Registry of Deeds, the sale price was $5 million.

The Foundation for Seacoast Health awarded $600,000 in grants to 20 local nonprofit organizations and $20,000 in scholarships to four students pursuing health related degrees at a reception that also honored recently retired Trustees John Lyons, Steve Witt, Anne Hodsdon, Archie McGowan, Amy Schwartz, John Hebert, and Dan Plummer.

St. Mary’s Bank in Manchester increased its scholarship program this year from $12,000 to $15,000, awarding scholarships of $1,000 each based on school and community involvement, work experience, and essay questions. All winners are either St. Mary’s Bank members or children of employees. Below is the list of recipients and the schools they currently attend or plan to attend this fall.
