In the Spotlight: Northeast Credit Union in Portsmouth is accepting nominations through May 30 for its 5th annual Nice Catch - Celebrating Kind Kids initiative. Twelve winners are invited to attend a NH Fisher Cats or Portland Sea Dogs game, have their kindness story shared on the ballfield jumbotron and social media, and receive a gift bag, courtesy of the team and NECU.

Vineyard Wind, a joint venture between Avangrid Renewables, a subsidiary of AVANGRID and Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners have entered multi-year collaboration with the University of NH to deploy a Passive Acoustic Monitoring device to record underwater sound a minimum of 30 days before the start of offshore construction and will remain active through at least 3 years of operations and maintenance.

Cheshire Medical Center in Keene hired Holly Schroeder, MD, MPH to the Pediatrics department. She is board certified by the American Board of Pediatrics in General Pediatrics and is an Adolescent Medicine specialist. Heather Keese, MSN, CNM, CLC, has joined the labor and delivery department as a certified nurse midwife in the Women and Children’s Health unit.

Manchester Community College is sponsoring three information technology career pathways through ApprenticeshipNH, a workforce program of the Community College System of New Hampshire. MCC will work with employers to secure Cyber Security Support Technician, Network Support Specialist and Technical Support Specialist pathways for adults and high schoolers through registered and pre-apprentice programs, creating a workforce pipeline to help fill in-demand jobs with skilled employees.

NH Department of Revenue Administration is offering homeowners the opportunity to apply for property tax relief through its low- and moderate-income homeowners property tax relief program. Single homeowners making up to $37,000 per year and married homeowners making up to $47,000 can apply for relief from the state through June 30.

Shorey’s Grilled Cheese and Ice Cream is now open in Franklin featuring Blake’s ice cream and unique grill cheese sandwiches such as pizza, Tuscan and sweet apple and ham. Owners Sharon and David Shorey and Laura and Anthony Damiani are longtime residents of Franklin who learned that the building formerly known as Ariana’s was for sale, and the notion of a sandwich and ice cream shop seemed like an opportunity not to miss.

Harbor Care, a housing and healthcare nonprofit in Nashua, received a $10,000 grant from the Northeast Delta Dental Foundation to support dental services for low-income and homeless families. Currently, NH’s Medicaid dental benefit does not cover preventative or non-emergency procedures for adults, leaving many with few options for regular treatment.

Hermit Woods Winery and Deli in Meredith has been working to develop the Lakes Region's newest music venue, The Loft at Hermit Woods, a listening room experience. Working with WHB Concert and Production Services, Chris Mega, pianist and board member of the Lakes Region Symphony Orchestra, and Dr. Jonathan Lorentz, music consultant and founder of NH Jazz Presents Concert Series, they have built a state-of-the-art performance venue with professional sound and lighting and a Yamaha C3 Grand Piano on stage.

Meredith Village Savings Bank is once again supporting NeighborWorks Southern New Hampshire with a $6,000 donation. The funds will be used to support the organization’s homeownership education and counseling services including seminars, one-on-one counseling, client materials, and technology support – helping local individuals and families make confident and informed decisions.

Position Imaging, Inc, a package logistics and asset tracking technology firm in Stratham, is now an ISO/IEC 27001:2013 certified provider whose Information Security Management System has received third-party accreditation from the International Standards Organization. The certification shows that Position Imaging has met rigorous international standards in ensuring the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of customer information.

The Service CU Impact Foundation, a 501(c)3 non-profit charity arm of Service Credit Union, is hosting its Inaugural Spring Gala on the evening of Friday, May 20. The gala, which will be held at Service Credit Union’s corporate headquarters in Portsmouth, will benefit NH Community Action Partnership--five agencies across the state that support local communities in a variety of ways, including housing and homelessness programs and services.

The Business Training Center at NHTI – Concord’s Community College recived a $5000 grant from the Northeast Delta Dental Foundation to rebrand and repackage of several dental training programs to provide a faster, more cost-effective training pathway for Dental Assisting. These new trainings can be completed in 4-12 weeks.

Dartmouth Health’s Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center, ApprenticeshipNH, a workforce program of the Community College System of NH, and River Valley Community College in Claremont have partnered to create an innovative pre-apprenticeship program for high school students interested in pursuing careers in healthcare. The program will prepare students for entry into the medical assistant, pharmacy technician and surgical technologist registered apprenticeship programs of Dartmouth Health’s Dartmouth Hitchcock Workforce Readiness Institute. The 14-week program is open to high school seniors age 17 and older, who will participate in classroom instruction at RVCC and paid on-the-job learning as healthcare operations support assistants at DHMC.
