In the spotlight: Bank of New Hampshire promoted Alison van Gelder to associate wealth management officer. She joined the bank in 2018 as a retirement plan services support specialist in the wealth management division. Also, Stephanie Durfee was promoted to electronic banking officer. She joined in 2000 as an electronic banking representative.

Meredith Village Savings Bank has donated $5,000 to Monarch School of New England in Rochester in support of the school’s Horticultural Therapy and Gardening Program. The donation will be used to provide plants, seeds, compost bins, tools, and other supplies for the gardens.

Seacoast-area nonprofit Step Up Parents received a grant of $6,247 from The Fabulous Find, Kittery, Maine, to provide financial support for kinship families raising the children whose parents struggle with substance use disorder in NH.

Cheshire Medical Center in Keene hired Jennifer Patek, APRN, to the family medicine department. Prior to coming to Cheshire, Patek had spent seven years as a community mental health RN with Monadnock Family Services.

Alene Candles, a full-service contract and private-label candle manufacturer in Milford, opened a 200,000-square-foot warehouse facility in Amherst and will add 12 new positions enabling the company to keep pace with growing demand.

Goodwill Northern New England launched a $50,000 program called the Partner Stability Fund, which gives vouchers to nonprofits, who in turn gift them to their clients who need clothing and household items most. CATCH Neighborhood Housing and Families in Transition were selected to help push this goal forward.

Cornerstone VNA, a nonprofit home health and hospice care organization in Rochester, is looking for individuals to join their program, A Matter of Balance, as volunteer balance coaches, to help community members manage concerns about falls and increase physical activity.

NH Department of Health and Human Services, the Division of Public Health Services reports that an adult from Dublin tested positive for Jamestown Canyon virus (JCV), a viral infection transmitted through the bite of an infected mosquito. This is the first detection. The risk level for Dublin will be increased to high as a result and for surrounding towns of Harrisville, Peterborough, Jaffrey, and Marlborough the risk will increase to moderate.

Citizens Bank and The Union Leader 2022 Champions in Action area of focus is mental health support and education. Organizations selected for inclusion in the program will receive financial, volunteer and public relations support to help further extend their reach and impact. Applications can be completed online at www.citizensbank.com/community/champions-in-action.aspx and must be submitted by August 20.

Spaulding Academy & Family Services in Northfield (formerly Spaulding Youth Center) promoted Dennis Galimberti to director of support services, and will oversee maintenance, food services, technology, and housekeeping, which transitioned to an in-house service, with the recent hiring of eight full-time housekeepers led by newly appointed housekeeping supervisor, Lisa Huckins. Daniel Jenifer was promoted to facilities team lead and Dawn Hinxman as support services office manager.
