In the Spotlight: William E. Christie, (pictured) partner with Shaheen & Gordon, P.A., was honored at the NH Democratic Party’s recent McIntyre-Shaheen Dinner with the Dunfey-Kanteres Award for his work on behalf of the party. The award is named for Walter J. Dunfey and E. Leo Kanteres who are credited with helping shape and strengthen the state’s Democratic Party. Christie is a past recipient of the Bill of Rights Award from NH Civil Liberties Union and the Granite Justice Award from the NHDP.

Newburyport Bank, with five Seacoast NH locations, donated $5,000 to the American Independence Museum in Exeter to support its annual American Independence Festival in July.

Sixteen social services agencies, food pantries, and churches in the greater Concord area were beneficiaries of 5.3 tons of nonperishable food earlier this month as part of the Capital Region Food Program Year-Round Distribution Project: Blueberry Express Daycare, Boscawen Congregational Church Food Pantry, Centerpoint Food Pantry, Christ the King Food Pantry, Concord Area Community Action Program (CAP), Epsom Food Pantry, Friends of Forgotten Children, Gospel Light Food Pantry, Loudon Food Pantry, Merrimack Valley Daycare, Open Door Community Kitchen, Pittsfield Food Pantry, Salvation Army, St. Paul’s Church Food Pantry, Suncook Community Action Program, and Warner Community Action Program.

Over the past five years, the NH Liquor Commission has helped raise more than $2.3 million for NH nonprofits, in part by developing strategic partnerships with brokers and suppliers. Three recent events contributed to the fundraising success, including the 17th annual Winter Wine Spectacular that benefits Easterseals NH; the Pappy Van Winkle Raffle benefiting Best Buddies; and the Distiller’s Showcase of Premium Spirits, which supported the Animal Rescue League of NH.

Triangle Credit Union opened its Merrimack branch in the 360 Merrimack Shopping Center. Construction on the 2,100-square-foot facility began in July 2019, and is Triangle’s tenth location in southern New Hampshire.

The University of Rhode Island awarded a contract for a new pier design at the Narragansett Bay Campus to Appledore Marine Engineering of Portsmouth.

The Manchester Historic Association has tapped Matthew Kfoury, CEO of the Central Paper Division of Imperial Dade, to serve as honorary chair of the 2020 Historic Preservation Awards in May. Kfoury has served on the boards of directors of the Greater Manchester Chamber, Catholic Medical Center, Neighborworks Southern NH, and The Moore Center.
