In the Spotlight: More than 80 awards were presented at Volunteer NH’s 17th annual Spirit of NH Awards in November, recognizing outstanding volunteers for their commitment to enhancing NH communities.

The Outstanding Volunteer Service Awards, in the following categories, went to:

  • Senior: Pat Slide – Home Health & Hospice Care in Nashua
  • Adult: Sheila Morris – Girl Scouts of the Green and White Mountains in Concord
  • Youth/Young Adult: Julia Tilton – Girl Scouts of the Green and White Mountains in Amherst
  • National Service: Caitlin Cavanaugh – Turning Points Network & Meghan Stewart – HAVEN in Charlestown
  • Group: Millie Berube & Tom Gatchel – Amedisys Hospice Services in Bedford

Additionally, Outstanding Program Champion Awards were presented to:

  • Business: Virtudent in Nashua
  • Nonprofit: Soul Models in Portsmouth

Northeast Credit Union in Portsmouth hired Sean Gallagher as manager of security and fraud. Gallagher brings years of experience in law enforcement and security and will be responsible for managing security infrastructure for all NECU locations.

The Colony Group in Concord, a wealth management, financial planning, and investment management firm, hired Lindsay Evans as a client service associate. She previously held various client-focused account manager positions in IT businesses.

The Greater Dover Chamber of Commerce recently welcomed Wildflower Wax Studio of Dover as a member. The Studio offers full body and facial waxing, and lash and brow tinting at its studio in the Washington Street Mill’s Picker Building.

The NH Liquor Commission was honored by StateWays Magazine with the Best On- and Off-Premise Partnership Award for its collaborations with local restaurants during NH Wine Week and Distiller’s Week.

Service Credit Union in Portsmouth added 55,000 surcharge-free ATMs for its members' use as part of a new partnership with Allpoint, the world's largest surcharge-free ATM provider. With the addition of Allpoint ATMs, members now have access to over 88,000 fee-free ATMs.

Tighe & Bond, Inc., an engineering and environmental consulting firm with an office in Portsmouth, appointed Keri Drake as its director of marketing and communications. Drake, who will be based out of the firm’s Worcester office, will manage the marketing and communications group and lead strategic marketing planning for the firm.

Meredith Village Savings Bank purchased $12,500 in tax credits through the NH Community Development Finance Authority in support of the Wentworth Economic Development Corporation. The bank’s investment supports businesses and the creation of employment opportunities, through development assistance and financing. Benefitting towns include Brookfield, Effingham, Farmington, Middleton, Milton, Moultonborough, New Durham, Sandwich, Tuftonboro, Wakefield and Wolfeboro.
