In the Spotlight: The leadership team at The Way Home, a Manchester non-profit that helps low-income households obtain and sustain safe, affordable housing, has changed. Smuttynose Brewing Co. in Hampton is opening Smuttlabs Brewery & Kitchen, a test kitchen and craft brewery in Dover. This is the “first physical outpost” of its Smuttlabs experimental beer program, featuring limited batch draft beers rotating constantly, with new offerings on a regular basis. To-go beer will also be available for purchase.

Café la Reine in Manchester is now using Flight Coffee Co. of Bedford, as its primary roaster. Owner Alexandra Horton, opened the shop in 2013 when, as a recent college graduate, she saw a need for a community space in the city.

Easterseals NH in Manchester received a $10,000 Grant for Good from Eastern Bank to support two Manchester-based Child Development Centers that focus on early education. The grant is part of a $1 million commitment Eastern has made to local nonprofit organizations.

Dartmouth College Professor of Engineering Petra Bonfert-Taylor was named to the 2020 class of the Association for Women in Mathematics Fellows for her work in development and study of programs building inclusivity in STEM.

NH Community Loan Fund co-founder Michael Swack was given the 2019 Ned Gramlich Lifetime Achievement Award for Responsible Finance. His work at the Carsey School of Public Policy (at UNH) focuses on building scale in the nonprofit community development sector, innovations in community development finance, microfinance, and new models of social enterprise.
