In the Spotlight: St. Mary’s Bank in Manchester hired Edina Cehic (left) and Beth Mulleavey as residential loan originators. The two will staff the credit union’s Concord mortgage center. Cehic has served NH credit union members for more than 19 years and got her start in retail banking at St. Mary’s Bank in 2002. Mulleavey worked as a business development specialist at Sugar River Bank in Concord prior to joining St. Mary’s Bank.

Nobis Group in Concord promoted Clarence "Tim" Andrews, PG; Alfred Jones, PE, Nobis' director of geotechnical services; and Denis McGrath, CHMM. Andrews has 25 years of experience managing numerous environmental investigations, remediation, and construction projects. Jones brings more than 25 years of geotechnical engineering design and construction experience and McGrath has over 20 years of environmental experience in the Federal market overseeing the investigation and remediation of numerous military and Superfund sites.

The Federal Emergency Management Agency is providing $8.4 million in direct assistance grants to 62 fire departments nationwide through the agency’s FY 2018 Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program, including $85,619 for the Effingham Fire Department. The grant will be used to purchase 13 new firefighter breathing apparatus for Effingham’s firefighters.

Hilton Garden Inn Manchester made a $3,000 donation to the NH Food Bank, with support from the hotel’s management company, Roedel Companies of Wilton. The donation was made in honor of former Hilton Garden Inn Manchester breakfast chef Kearn Turner, who passed away in May after battling ALS.

Northeast Credit Union in Portsmouth hired Ana Foret, CPA as vice president of risk management, responsible for leading external audit functions and personnel for the credit union oversight of risk management and compliance. Foret was previously employed for RSM as a senior associate, Service Credit Union as chief risk officer/chief internal auditor, and CliftonLarsonAllen as an audit director.

Easterseals NH will hold a Roast & Toast Tribute to honor longtime President & CEO Larry Gammon on September 19 at The DoubleTree by Hilton in Manchester, 4:30 to 8:30 pm. The event, which is open to the public, will honor Gammon’s 48 years of services to people with disabilities or special needs.

Red Arrow Diner presented a check for $7,000 to an employee who suffers from cardiomyopathy. Long-time employee Crystal Otis has served as front house manager at the Manchester location for more than five years and recently accepted a new role as executive assistant at the corporate headquarters. The “Beat Goes On” fundraiser netted $4,500 and Co-Owners Carol Lawrence-Erickson and George Lawrence allocated another $2,500 to support Otis.

A Place to Grow recently worked with Eversource to complete several energy efficiency improvements at the Brentwood early childhood learning center. The sustainability upgrades make for a more comfortable year-round environment for students, teachers, and families – all while saving $4,800 in annual energy costs and reducing its impact on the environment.

Girl Scouts of the Green and White Mountains teamed up with Eversource, as the energy company presented a $1,500 donation to the council, and provided lessons in safety as well as lunch to the Girl Scouts attending day camp at Camp Kettleford.

The 19th annual NH Film Festival has revealed the cover art for its 2019 program, which emphasizes Portsmouth’s naturalistic yet urban aesthetic by featuring an image of the World War I Memorial Bridge at dusk, which spans the Piscataqua River and links Portsmouth to Kittery, Maine. The image was taken by local photographer Devin LaBrie, and the cover art was created by Vital, a Portsmouth-based digital marketing firm.

The Department of Environmental Services (NHDES) released a coastal flood risk report and draft recommendations and is looking for public input. Several state agencies and the University of NH are working to update storm surge, sea-level rise, precipitation, and other relevant projections originally summarized in a 2014 report. The 2019 NH Coastal Flood Risk Summary is comprised of two parts, including a summary of the science (Part I) and guidance for how to use the science in decision-making (Part II - DRAFT).
