In the Spotlight: Elliot Health Systems recently hosted a Doctors’ Day celebration and presented Gavin Muir, MD, with the “Stephen A. Tzianabos, MD Award for Physician Excellence” for his outstanding leadership and a career marked by integrity and excellence and as a role model for physicians. The 2019 Physician of the Year was presented to Johny Kuttab, MD.

The NHHEAF Network Organizations’ employee-led NHHEAF Network Cares charitable giving program recently awarded four nonprofit agencies mini-grants for work in NH. Agencies receiving funds include Kingswood Youth Center in Wolfeboro, $250; Manchester Police Athletic League in Manchester, $250; Rockingham Nutrition and Meals on Wheels in Plaistow, $250; and the Crisis Center for Central NH in Concord, $150.

Franklin Savings Bank hired Patrick Loveless as branch manager of the Merrimack office. Loveless brings eight years of branch management experience to his position.

Human Resource Partners in Dover has hired Amy Mayo as a business partner. Prior to joining HR Partners, she worked for Associated Grocers, where she was responsible for the strategic development and execution of leadership and development programs, focusing on personal and professional development as well as succession planning.

Northway Bank in Portsmouth hired Anthony Capone as a small business relationship manager. He brings nine years of customer service and banking experience and most recently served as AVP, business relationship manager, at Citizens Bank, with NH headquarters in Manchester. Capone will work out of Northway Bank’s Conway Village branch.

Merriman House, a long-term residential facility located within Memorial Hospital in North Conway, recently recognized ongoing supporters, Ed and Nancy Grove, of Brownfield, Maine, for their donation of $8,800 to update Merriman’s beauty salon. Paint and décor was freshened and equipment was upgraded making the space more accessible to all residents.

The McAuliffe Shepard Discovery Center named Paul N. (Trip) Anderson III director of development. A long-time museum professional, Anderson’s focus has been on programming development and fundraising for museums, institutions, and historic sites.

AmeriHealth Caritas was selected by the NH Department of Health and Human Services to be an insurance provider to the state’s Medicaid enrollees. The firm currently operates Medicaid managed care health plans in Delaware, Florida, Louisiana, Michigan, Pennsylvania, South Carolina and the District of Columbia and North Carolina.

Peabody & Smith Realty hired Keegan Rice to their Franconia office, which serves clients and customers in Northern and Central NH. Rice has focused his real estate career in residential and land. Since joining Peabody & Smith Realty, he has assisted first-time home buyers, luxury-home owners and is expanding into commercial real estate.

New Hampshire Electric Cooperative (NHEC) in Plymouth says summer period electric bills will be going down by nearly 6 percent for most members. Effective with bills to be rendered May 1, the Co-op Power portion of members’ bills (the cost of actual energy) will decrease by 13 percent, while the Regional Access Charge (the cost of transmission grid services) will decrease by 4 percent. NHEC is a member-owned electric distribution cooperative serving 85,000 homes and businesses in 115 NH communities.

Newburyport Five Cents Savings Bank (Newburyport Bank) donated $1,500 to Rochester Middle School of Rochester to cover bus transportation for the school’s 8th grade Boston University Team on their field trip to the Boston Museum of Science.

At a recent AIANH Awards Banquet Dennis Mires, AIA received the prestigious Clinton Sheerr Award for Excellence in the NH Architectural Community. The award honors those whose personal and professional achievements carry on the tradition of deep love and dedication for the state, its architecture and environment as exemplified by Clinton Sheer, AIA.
