In the Spotlight:The U.S. Small Business Administration and the New Hampshire Bankers Association named Northland Forest Products of Kingston, as the 2018 Small Business Exporter of the Year for New Hampshire and New England. Northland Forest Products, which also has a location in Virginia, is a hardwood lumber processor and distributor producing their own exclusive brand of lumber. The company was founded in 1970 with a history dating back to the late 19th century through the family of its’ President Jameson “Jamey” French. Now in their fourth generation, the business continues to serve as a leader in innovation and responsible forest stewardship and has approximately 65 employees. French will be recognized locally at the annual NH SBA Small Business Awards event on May 2nd at the Manchester Country Club in Bedford.

Northway Bank in Concord has named Tyler Pond as branch manager of its Concord location. Pond brings four years of banking expertise and professional networking experience in the Capital area to his position at Northway. Pond worked as a personal banker and mortgage loan associate for Bank of America and most recently served as assistant branch manager for Citizens Bank in the Concord area.

Atlantic Orthopaedics and Sports Medicine in Portsmouth has added physician assistant Ryan LaBelle to the team. LaBelle will specialize in sports medicine and the non-surgical treatment and prevention of sports injuries.

Jewett Construction Company in Raymond has promoted Alain LeBlanc, LEED-AP, to senior project manager. The promotion comes following LeBlanc’s successful management of several high-profile construction projects over the past year for including a new AutoFair Ford dealership in Haverhill, MA, and Woof Meow Family Pet Center in Dover.

Macy’s welcomes the state’s first “Macy’s Backstage” to its location in the Mall of New Hampshire in Manchester on Saturday, June 2. Backstage is a store-within-store featuring significant savings in about 13,700 square feet of dedicated retail space on the first floor. The grand opening will be celebrated with giveaways for the first 200 customers and special events throughout the day.

Banks Integration Group, a Superior Controls, Inc. company, is opening of a new office in South San Francisco. The company currently employs more than 125 engineers at locations in Seabrook, Albany, NY and Vacaville, CA. The company hired John D. C. Simpson, a 23-year vet of biotech giant Genentech, to lead the new office.

Nancy Swenson, VP of digital banking, at New Hampshire Mutual Bancorp has retired after 43 years with the organization. Swenson joined Merrimack County Savings Bank in 1975 as a teller. Following the affiliation of the Merrimack with Meredith Village Savings Bank Swenson transitioned to her current role.

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and U.S. Department of Energy awarded Eversource their 2018 Energy Star Partner of the Year Sustained Excellence Award in New Hampshire for its program offering innovative training and support for home-builders during the construction, certification, and completion of their homes. Helping more than 7,000 NH homes receive their Energy Star certification.
