Dr. Gerard Hevern, medical director of the Elliot Hospital Pain Management Center in Manchester,  received the national 2018 Family Physician of the Year award.

In the Spotlight: The American Academy of Family Physicians awarded its highest honor to Dr. Gerard J. Hevern of Suncook, naming him its national 2018 Family Physician of the Year. The award honors one outstanding American family physician who provides patients with compassionate, comprehensive care, and serves as a role model in his or her community and to other health professionals. For nearly four decades, Hevern has practiced the full scope of family medicine in a medically underserved community of 5,000 people in southern NH as part of the Elliot Physician Network in Manchester. Since 2008, he has served as medical director of comprehensive pain management at the Elliot Hospital Pain Management Center at River’s Edge in Manchester.

St. Mary’s Bank, the nation’s first credit union, opened a new Mortgage Center at 170 Commerce Way, Suite 200 in Portmsouth to serve the mortgage needs of home buyers in Portsmouth and throughout the Seacoast.

Cobb Hill Construction in Concord is managing construction of the revitalized retail space on Loudon Road in Concord. The 7,800-square-foot building, made up of three retail units, is a new steel structure with a modern facade built on the existing building’s footprint. A new parking lot and walkway will be added around the building. The project is set to be completed in late fall.

Vicki Marcinkevich, president of Team Auto Group in Manchester sold the Team Kia dealership in Concord to Daniel O’Brien of Brentwood, Tennessee. The dealership will now be known as Dan O’Brien’s Kia. O’Brien has been the operating partner of multiple dealerships in Tennessee, Georgia and Florida. Originally from New England, O’Brien sold his interest in order to purchase his own first dealership. Team Auto Group still operates two Nissan dealerships in Manchester and Lebanon.

Michelline Dufort has been named director of the Center for Family Business and The CEO Forum housed out of the Paul College of Business and Economics at the University of NH in Durham. She most recently served as director of business relations at NH High Tech Council.

ProEx Physical Therapy, a physical therapist owned private practice in Portsmouth specializing in orthopedics, spine and sports medicine, promoted Gino Compagnone to director of operations. He previously served as regional clinical director.

Planet Fitness is celebrating its 25th anniversary this year. It recently donated $25,000 to a trust fund for the new Dover High School and Regional Career Technical Center too mark its anniversary.

Plymouth State University received a $250,000 gift for its Museum of the White Mountains from the McLane Family. The gift will support The McLane Family Fellowship, which will be awarded annually to one PSU undergraduate or graduate student to foster integration of Museum of the White Mountains programs and projects into PSU classrooms, research, and co-curricular experiences. The gift, which is the largest ever received by the museum, will also help establish it as a community arts and culture center.
