This Week’s Spotlight: Sherry Young, a founder and president of Rath, Young and Pignatelli in Concord and head of the firm’s Environmental Practice Group, was elected chair of the Board of Directors for the NH Charitable Foundation in Concord. The foundation is NH’s statewide community foundation, distributing more than $30 million in grants and scholarships annually. Young has been member of the foundation’s board of directors since 2012. She was also the first woman to chair the State Capital Legal Group, a network of independent law firms in all U.S. State capitals and in business markets and financial centers worldwide.

The Boys and Girls Club of Greater Nashua appointed Guy Montminy and Kathleen Peahl to its board of directors. Montminy is SVP and deputy general manager of BAE Systems’ Electronic Systems headquarters in Nashua, while Peahl is an attorney with Wadleigh, Starr & Peters in Manchester.

Cheshire Medical Center in Keene hired Teresa Woodside to its Department of Family Medicine. Woodside has six years of nursing experience and previously worked as a staff RN in the Emergency Room at Lowell General Hospital in Massachusetts.

EyeWorks in Keene, an independent optical shop, marked the first anniversary of its ownership transition from founder Vincent McMahon to Barton Higley. McMahon established The Optical Shop in 1979, while Higley joined the practice four years ago.

Employees of Great NH Restaurants’ eight restaurant locations for T-BONES, Cactus Jack’s and The Copper Door conducted a coin drive to benefit FEEDNH.org, raising $3,000 for the nonprofit. FEEDNH.org has raised over $575,000 for local nonprofits.

The Manchester Kiwanis Club is seeking its next major emphasis project, offering up to $75,000 over four years to invest in a local nonprofit that makes a significant and positive impact in the lives of disadvantaged children in the Manchester community. The last Major Emphasis Project provided funds to the Boys & Girls Club of Manchester, assisting in the purchase of a new bus to allow more children to be transported to the club for programs and opportunities. This year is the 20th anniversary of North Branch Construction in Concord becoming an Energy Star Partner, an energy efficiency program run by the EPA. The firm is the first and longest-standing Energy Star Builder in NH and has built over 250 Energy Star qualified multi-family and affordable housing residential units since 1997.

Worthen Industries completed a 1 Mw (DC) solar photovoltaic installation at its 34 Cellu Drive facility in Nashua. The project includes 2,710 LG high-efficiency PV panels on 80,000-square-feet of roof and will produce approximately 1,222,000 kWh annually, which equates to about 50 percent of the location’s operational electricity requirements.
