This week's spotlight: Crotched Mountain Foundation in Greenfield, a nonprofit that provides services for disabled individuals and their families, appointed Frederick R. Bruch, Jr. as chief medical officer. Bruch will also continue working as medical director for Crotched Mountain Specialty Hospital in Greenfield. He previously worked as an internist, hospital medicine physician and compliance officer at Dartmouth Hitchcock-Keene and Cheshire Medical Center in Keene from 1991 to 2013.


Concord Regional Visiting Nurse Association in Concord hired Melissa Voutour as director of donor relations. She most recently worked as director of annual giving and leadership gifts at Elms College in Massachusetts.

The Easter Seals NH Child Development Centers in Manchester received a $5,000 grant from the Million Dollar Round Table Foundation, a global grant programs that funds nonprofit family and community oriented organizations. The donation was made in honor of Richard Rawlings, a board member of Easter Seals NH.

Keene Publishing Corp., publisher of The Keene Sentinel, purchased The Monadnock Small Business Journal from Backporch Publishing LLC, also in Keene. The Sentinel, which publishes the monthly magazine Business Monadnock, will merge the two local business magazines under the title The Business Journal of Greater Keene, Peterborough and Brattleboro.

Keller Williams Lakes & Mountains Realty (KWLM) in North Conway hired Michele Southwick as a real estate agent. Southwick has worked in real estate in the Mount Washington Valley and Western Maine for over 16 years.

The National Retail Federation (NRF) visited seven independent NH retail stores to interview their owners and customers for NRF’s Retail Across America film series. Stores included Top Furniture in Gorham, Lahout's Ski Shop in Littleton, The Old Country Store in Moultonborough, Michele's Sweet Shoppe in Londonderry, Benson's Lumber in Londonderry, Granite State Candy Shoppe in Concord and Badger Balm in Gilsum.

NeighborWorks Southern New Hampshire in Manchester, which provides housing assistance programs to low-income individuals, received $12,500 from Bank of New Hampshire to support seminars, coaching and counseling services.

The New Hampshire Hospital Association (NHHA) in Concord hired Travis Boucher as director of financial policy and reimbursement. He most recently worked as an associate director of revenue cycle operations at Elliot Hospital in Manchester.

Northeast Credit Union (NECU) in Portsmouth raised $2,000 for Safe Harbor Recovery Center, a Seacoast community resource for alcohol and drug addiction. NECU began a social media campaign on Twitter regarding NH’s opioid epidemic and donated $0.50 to Safe Harbor for each re-tweet.

Open Democracy in Concord, a nonprofit organization focused on campaign finance reform, hired Olivia Zink as executive director. Zink, a former program director at the organization, recently worked as the grassroots engagement coordinator at the American Friends Service Committee’s Concord office. She succeeds Daniel Weeks, who is running for Executive Council.

Polaris Direct in Hooksett, a direct marketing firm, hired John Cunneen as VP of sales. He has 20 years of experience in enterprise level sales and sales leadership.

For its 20th anniversary, Redhook Brewery in Portsmouth is partnering with Stoneface Brewing Co. in Newington, Tuckerman Brewing Co. in Conway and Smuttynose Brewing Company in Hampton for a three beer, limited-run collaboration series. Redhook released its collaborative beer with Stoneface in April, and will release its collaborations with Smuttynose in June and Tuckerman in October.

Rowell’s Sewer & Drain, LLC in Northfield acquired Al’s Laconia Septic Tank Service. The acquisition follows the retirement of Al Chamberlain, owner of the company who retired after a 35-year career in the Lakes Region.

Teatotaller Tea House opened its new location at 69 High St. in Somersworth. Over the past two years, Emmett Soldati, owner of Teatotaller, worked with area developer David Baker to complete the project.

The Turkish Cultural Center of New Hampshire in Manchester raised $4,500 to fund implementation of a water well in Kenya. The Center previously established a well in Uganda and is working on opening a third well in the Republic of Niger.
