George Segal, chairman of Sanel Auto Parts, Co., has passed away at the age of 87. Segal was widely recognized as a leader within the aftermarket auto-care industry and served on numerous manufacturer advisory boards during the past 50 years.

After serving in the United States Army in Europe at the end of World War II, he joined his family’s business, Sanel Auto Parts, Co. and spent his entire career at the company, eventually rising to chair of the board.

“Our dad’s contribution to Sanel Auto Parts and the auto car industry is immeasurable,” said David T. Segal, company president and Segal’s son. “His family will miss his endless devotion to us, but his employees will miss the connection he had with them and his commitment to their wellbeing. They viewed him not just as the company’s leader, but as a caring friend.”

Segal was supportive of the Concord area community and was involved with numerous nonprofits, including NH Boys & Girls Club, Pope-Memorial Concord SPCA, Capitol Center for the Arts, Concord Hospital, and Temple Beth Jacob, where he was a lifelong member. He served on several of the temple’s boards and committees, as well as serving as president and chairman of the board of trustees.

He leaves his wife, Jody; his daughter, Lisa; his son, Bobby, and his wife, Betsy; his son, David, and his wife, Ellen; his son, Alan, and his daughter, Becky, and her husband, Dan. In addition, he leaves 10 grandchildren: Lindsey, Sydney, Benjamin, Jackson, Gabrielle, Jane, Allison, Hillary, Libby and Jonathan.
