More than 100 Canadian manufacturers will hear about the benefits and opportunities of expanding their operations into northern NH at a dinner and presentation in Sherbrooke, Quebec on June 20.
The trip will showcase the North Country, and particularly Coos County, as places where Quebec companies can expand, place their products into the U.S. market and "still be close to their home offices," said Michael Bergeron, business development manager for the NH Division of Economic Development.
Sponsored by Public Service of NH, the trip is the latest in a series of presentations hosted in Quebec cities in the past several years.
"We want to do everything we can to bring manufacturing jobs to Coos County," said Pat McDermott, economic and community development manager for PSNH.
In addition to representatives from PSNH and the Division of Economic Development, community leaders and French-speaking business owners from Colebrook, Groveton and Berlin will also attend and take part in the presentations. The Canadian dinner guests will have a chance to win a two-night stay donated by the Mountain View Grand in Whitefield.
Bergeron said the strong response to the hundreds of invitations sent for the Sherbrooke event illustrates the interest there is in NH, especially as economic conditions improve.
