The Keene Pumpkin Festival, for decades a mainstay of downtown Keene each October, dissolved in 2014 after riots shut it down. The Keene planners moved the event to Laconia, but a local woman, Jennifer Matthews, resurrected the event down the road at the Cheshire Fairgrounds on a smaller scale as the Monadnock Pumpkin Festival.
