PPNE Breaks Ground; Unveils New Name

Poultry Products Northeast (PPNE) has a new home, a new community, and a new name, Prime Source Foods. The new name was unveiled as the company broke ground on a 105,000-square-foot food distribution center in Londonderry.

The new facility will include 40,000 square feet of warehouse space, the bulk of which will be refrigerated or frozen, an 18,000-square-foot refrigerated dock, 8,000 square feet of processing space and a 3,000-square-foot test kitchen and presentation room.

“This is a historic day for our company and its future,” said Bill Conrad, CEO and president of Prime Source Foods. “So many people have worked hard for over 60 years to make it what it is today, and now we are so thrilled to begin our next chapter.”

With a recent $30 million investment from a new ownership group, a Prime Source Foods press release says the new facility will allow the company to be more efficient, augment its product lines, and achieve higher fill rates and service levels for customers.

While PPNE started out with a focus on poultry processing, it eventually grew to distribute a variety of poultry, beef, pork, seafood, ethnic specialties and produce. The new name embraces that evolution. Prime Source Foods says it is one of the largest independent food service distributors focused on center-of-plate products in New England.

The new facility is scheduled to open February 2020.
