Portsmouth Liquor & Wine Outlet Sales Jump

Construction is officially complete at the Liquor & Wine Outlet located at the Portsmouth Traffic Circle.

Construction is officially complete at the site of the NH Liquor Commission’s Liquor & Wine Outlet at the Portsmouth traffic circle. NHLC completed work on the building itself last fall, opening the 22,000-square-foot, state-of-the-art outlet in October 2018. Since its opening, NHLC has already seen a 20-percent year-over-year sales increase compared to the original Outlet, which had been located on the same property. NHLC continued work over the past several months to make a series of improvements and enhancements to the site, including completely reconstructing the parking lot to allow for ample parking and greater accessibility and convenience.

With its 20-percent sales increase, the new Portsmouth Outlet is already outpacing NHLC’s initial projections of $26 million in annual sales, which would have represented a $3.5 million or 16-percent sales increase compared to Fiscal Year 2018 sales totals.

“The success of our new Portsmouth NH Liquor & Wine Outlet is a perfect example of how our investments in enhancing our Outlet locations are paying off for New Hampshire residents,” says NHLC Chairman Joseph Mollica. “The Portsmouth Traffic Circle is a marquee location and is the fifth-highest grossing Outlet statewide in terms of total sales. We anticipate continued sales growth with the busy summer travel season approaching quickly.”

The new Portsmouth Outlet’s location at the Portsmouth Traffic Circle is accessible from Route 1, Interstate 95 and the Spaulding Turnpike, and serves Portsmouth-area residents and the millions of people traveling to New Hampshire’s seacoast and into Maine. The original, 11,000-square-foot Outlet remained open during construction, providing uninterrupted shopping. The original Outlet building was demolished as part of the construction project.

Featuring unique coastal architectural themes, the Portsmouth NH Liquor & Wine Outlet features a selection of more than 6,000 sizes and varieties of wines and spirits, along with an array of new features and enhancements, including highly efficient LED fixtures and HVAC, epoxy resinous flooring, spacious aisles, Outlet Price Busters and Wine Power Buys section, an expanded selection of premium and ultra-premium products, and iPad kiosks for perusing inventory and wine and food pairings.

Along with completing work at the site of the new Portsmouth Outlet, NHLC announced earlier this month it plans to build the first NH Liquor & Wine Outlet in the town of Tilton. In addition, construction is well underway on new Outlets in West Lebanon and on the city line of Dover-Somersworth.
