NH's Product of the Year Winner Located in Londonderry

Published Tuesday Nov 25, 2008

Imagine if you could see crisp, clear, live images in total darkness, through fog, smoke, or thick brush with a devise that fits comfortably in the palm of your hand, said Devin Standard, director of marketing and business development for Insight Tech-Gear, as he addressed the New Hampshire High Tech Council's (NHHTC) Product of the Year awards audience.

Insight's technology, which won the 2008 Product of the Year award, can help locate a lost child lying unconscious in the deep woods or a man that falls overboard or a person invisible to the naked eye but lost in dense fog. Insight Tech-Gear's solution is the MTMv2-LCD, a small high-resolution handheld thermal imaging device, weighing in at less that 11 ounces.

The Londoderry-based company, which launched in 1988, boasts a robust military heritage. The features of its award-winning camera include its unprecedented portability and easy viewing. The company claims that the MTMv2-LCD is the only thermal imaging devise that renders facial-recognition quality images and man-sized objects at a 1/3-mile distance in a package this small. Utilizing a high-resolution infrared detector coupled imbedded software, the MTMv2-LCD runs on commercially available batteries for four-plus hours, making it ideal for search and rescue operations on land and at sea.

The Five Judge's award winners were Ensconce Data Technology, Dell Inc., Eleme Medical Inc., Bradford Networks and Insight Tech-Gear, all of whom presented to an audience of about 325 business, government and education leaders in Manchester. Each audience member was given a ballot and voted for the product deemed most innovative, functional, and unique.

The Product of the Year trophy will be engraved with this year's winner, Insight Tech-Gear and be displayed at the Manchester-Boston Regional Airport lobby in the Product of the Year Hall of Fame.
