NH Charitable Foundation Makes Donation to Plus Company

Published Tuesday Aug 2, 2011

The New Hampshire Charitable Foundation in Concord awarded The PLUS Company nearly $20,000 to enhance cooking and nutritional programs for PLUS Company clients. The grant, consisting of funds from the Frederick W. Cox and Dorothy Thurber Cox Memorial Fund, will be used to provide kitchen renovations and purchase necessary supplies at The PLUS Company's building at 19 Chestnut Street in Nashua.

The upgrades will include increased counter and cabinet space, new appliances, cooking equipment and tools, among other enhancements. We are so grateful to the New Hampshire Charitable Foundation, says PLUS Company Director of Adult Education, Leni Hodgins. This grant will allow clients with disabilities served by The PLUS Company to engage in cooking classes, as well as nutrition programs that will give them the skills they need to live healthy, independent lives.  The renovations are expected to begin at the end of August, with the new kitchen being available for use in September.

The mission of The PLUS Company, Inc. is to empower individuals with developmental disabilities by providing support and services that maximize independence.  With offices in Nashua, and Lawrence and Tewksbury, Massachusetts, The PLUS Company provides a supportive environment that assists individuals with disabilities to develop skills, increase self-reliance, and become vital, productive members of their community.  The services offered allow individuals to explore residential and life skills, along with enhancing educational, vocational, and social opportunities.  Programs are created with the vision that all people with disabilities have the confidence, dignity, and skills needed to lead lives of independence and quality.
