UNH Center for Family Business Awards

The University of New Hampshire’s Center for Family Business held its Annual Family Business Recognition Dinner...

The University of New Hampshire’s Center for Family Business  awarded the 2018 “Family Business of the Year” to the Law Family Companies—a fifth-generation family owned, and operated business based in Nashua.

The Law Family Companies offers a wide variety of distribution solutions across many industries. The company was recognized for the ability to stand the test of time through an overall growth in revenues, employees, and profits, all within the existing family dynamics.

The Lifetime Achievement Award honored Mike Steinberg of Relyco a specialty paper and payment solutions company operated out of Dover, New Hampshire. This award is based on the harmonious transfer of the business to the next generation, which occurred when Mike’s son Bruce Steinberg took over the company in 2014.

The Transformation Award was given to Nick Mercier of Pilot Innovations recognizing the innovation and entrepreneurship Mercier has brought to parent company Macy Industries as that company has transferred ownership to the next generation.

The 8th Annual Family Business Recognition Dinner was held in May. The keynote address was given by James and Michael Sununu who discussed Sununu Enterprises.

The Center for Family Business, part of the Peter T. Paul College of Business and Economics, recognizes outstanding family businesses for their values and long-term stability, contributions to the economy and commitment to local communities.
