Megabucks Wins in NH Continue!

Published Thursday Jul 30, 2015

The streak of $1 million-plus winners in New Hampshire continues, as the NH Lottery in Concord announced that a winning Tri-State Megabucks ticket—worth an estimated $1.65 million—was sold during last night’s, July 29, drawing, at the Market Basket at 539 Donald Street in Bedford. The winning Megabucks ticket marks the second $1 million-plus ticket sold in NH in July. A $1 million winning Powerball ticket was sold on July 9th at the Hannaford Supermarket on Fort Eddy Road in Concord. On top of that, a lucky winner stepped forward earlier this month to claim a $1.05 million Megabucks prize, just days before the prize was set to expire.

“Three $1 million-plus winners in one month? This is incredible. The excitement is palpable; you can feel the buzz in the air!” said Charlie McIntyre, executive director of the NH Lottery Commission. “Someone out there is holding a Megabucks ticket worth $1.65 million. Let’s see if we can keep this streak of New Hampshire millionaires going!”

The winning numbers in the July 29th Tri-State Megabucks drawing were 8-12-18-26-33 MegaBall 1. Market Basket will receive $16,500 for selling the winning ticket.

Just last month, a winning Tri-State Megabucks ticket worth $1.35 million was sold on June 10 at Mega-X IV in Auburn. Allan and Janet Virr of Derry claimed that jackpot and elected the cash option of $675,000 before taxes.

Prior to that, the last winning Tri-State Megabucks ticket sold in NH was in July 2014 in West Lebanon, with the winner coming forward to claim the prize earlier this month, just days before the prize was set to expire. The winner chose to remain anonymous by claiming the prize through a revocable trust, ANO Trust of Manchester. The trust elected the annuity option of $35,000 per year, before taxes, for 30 years.

“It is so thrilling to have three Megabucks winners in the last two months, particularly as we prepare to celebrate Tri-State Megabucks’ 30th birthday this September,” McIntyre said.

The news of last night’s Megabucks winner comes on the heels of an incredible night of winning in NH, in which $1.14 million in lottery prizes were won in a single night. On July 9, along with the $1 million Powerball ticket sold, a $30,000 Tri-State Megabucks Plus ticket was sold in Moultonborough, a $100,000 Tri-State “Gimme 5” ticket was sold at the Hannaford Supermarket on John Devine Drive in Manchester, and a $10,000 Powerball ticket was sold in Rochester.

The jackpot for the next Tri-State Megabucks drawing, which will take place on Saturday, August 1, is $1,000,000. Drawings take place on Wednesdays and Saturdays.
