Langley Construction in Goffstown, a family-owned and operated general contractor and construction management firm recently completed the rebuilding of Lemay and Sons, a slaughterhouse in Goffstown that was destroyed by fire in 2017. The fire left the family and their 18 employees scrambling to keep the meat processing plant in business.
The slaughterhouse and retail store have been in Goffstown since 1963 and is one of only four slaughterhouses in the state. Firefighters were able to save the retail store, which sustained minimal damage, while the meat processing plant operated in a temporary facility.
The construction of the new 7,500-square-foot building was completed late summer and included specialized refrigeration and extensive cleaning and sanitizing equipment for meat processing.
The new construction also included adding a state-of-the-art processing area, conveyor system and specialized cooler capable of holding 80,000 pounds of aging beef.
