DOVER — The Cooperative Alliance for Seacoast Transportation, the bus system that serves the greater Seacoast known as COAST, is turning to the community for support in building a new facility.

Rad Nichols, COAST’s executive director who’s been with the organization for 30 years, said they’ve been looking into a new facility for five or six years because they’ve outgrown the current building on Sumner Drive off Knox Marsh Road in Dover. The new building is estimated to cost $19.5 million, and to date they've raised almost $14.2 million, according to Nichols. Now, COAST is seeking community support with a "Connected by COAST" capital campaign.

For Nichols, the project is about more than a building. It is about ensuring COAST has the foundation it needs to serve the Seacoast for the next 40 years and beyond. “For our current and future riders, our staff, and our community, I want to see the building completed,” he said.

COAST provides transportation across the greater Seacoast, from Portsmouth to Farmington, and Kittery, Maine.
