Health Insurance for NH Jobless

To thousands of Granite Staters, losing a job means also losing health insurance. As state unemployment grows due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Granite Staters may find themselves without coverage just as we face the greatest public health crisis in a century.

Covering NH and Protect Our Care NH remind Granite Staters that the Affordable Care Act offers affordable and comprehensive options for those who are newly out of work.

Anyone who recently lost a job in NH and lost their job-based coverage has 60 days to pick a policy by going to www.healthcare.gov.

It is a special enrollment period open anytime to people who have gotten married, had a baby or adopted a child, gone through a divorce or separation, moved to a new zip code or county, moved to go to college, and other life changes. Obamacare, or the ACA, offers federal subsidies to plans that offer health care coverage and peace of mind.

And, if you have a plan through the ACA and lost your job or are making less — log onto the heathcare.gov to lower premiums.

Medicaid

And anyone who is now jobless and suffered loss of income may qualify for Medicaid, also a part of the Affordable Care Act. https://coveringnewhampshire.org/nh-health-protection-program

A statewide effort by the NH Health Plan, Covering New Hampshire is the official, free resource for Granite Staters to learn about the Health Insurance Marketplace, the NH Health Protection Program and the new, affordable health insurance plans that are now available.
